Session 1 - Online Induction Efforts

As online learning continues to grow in popularity, organizations are turning to this medium as an effective way to provide teacher induction programs. This session will provide an overview of current teacher induction efforts being offered online both at MSU and elsewhere and engage participants in a discussion about implications for our work and practice.

Using video in learning environments has become increasingly popular. This session will give participants an opportunity to explore current uses of video in learning and to discuss the benefits and future of using video in the classroom.
Session 4 - Second Language Learning in Online Environments

Online environments have proven to be powerful environments for second language acquisition. Join us for an overview and discussion of the current state of online second language learning, including a demonstration of how the virtual world Second Life is being used at the MSU Confucius Institute.

Session 1 - Technology Trends in K-12 Schools - Session held Wednesday October 4th, 2006
What are the current trends of technology use in K-12 education? What are teachers using in the classroom and how does this affect our preparation of pre-service teachers? This seminar will provide an overview of these trends, show examples of their use, and engage participants in a discussion about how these technologies can and are affecting practice.
Session 2 - Quality Assurance in Online Learning - Session held Monday October 23rd, 2006
Online learning is growing at a phenomenal rate in both K-12 and higher education. As the number of online offerings continues to grow, new challenges arise. A major challenge facing those participating in online learning is the issue of assuring quality course offerings. This session will explore criteria developed for evaluating quality in online learning and engage participants in a discussion about how we can evaluate and maintain high quality online offerings at the college.
